Lack of Civil Liberties – Cause and Effect
July 7, 2007
For years we have argued that civil liberties afforded Coto residents by the US Constitution do not have to stop at the gates. Our critics usually counter with General Motors analogies, as if 1) GM was the best managed company in the world, or as if 2) CZ board members were qualified to run GM.
In a new study, Princeton economist Alan Krueger has determined that lack of civil liberties is what breeds terrorism, and not poverty, as conventional wisdom dictates.
“As a group, terrorists are better educated and from wealthier families than the typical person in the same age group in the societies from which they originate” Mr. Krueger said at the London School of Economics last year in a lecture soon to be published as a book “What Makes a Terrorist?” according to the column Capital published in the July 5, 2007 issue of the WSJ.
Interesting to note that in the UK, in the name of political correctness, government officials are not allowed to refer to Islamic Terrorists directly - and see what happens!
