DUI Enforcement in Dana Point, San Clement and SJC

DUI Enforcement in Dana Point, San Clement and SJC

January 17, 2007

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting DUI Roving Patrols in the Cities of Dana Point, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. The Tri-City DUI teams will target areas that have a high incidence of DUI related arrest and collisions.

Consistent with CHP’s Lt. Helzig’s assertion that a good number of “accidents” can be more appropriately referred to as “preventable incidents”, through public safety awareness, engineering and proactive traffic enforcement, the goal of the program is to reduce the rate at which the citizens of Orange County are killed or injured in DUI related collisions. Through implementation of these events, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department hopes to significantly reduce deaths, injuries and property damage.

These (and others scheduled for a later date) roving DUI patrols and checkpoints, are part of a grant the Sheriff’s Department received from the State of California Office of Traffic Safety.
