A Case for Exercising Right to Vote – Too Much At Stake

A Case for Exercising Right to Vote – Too Much At Stake

February 2, 2008

The Coto De Caza Discussion Forum has been abuzz not only with the local upcoming elections, but also the presidential one. However, the discussion has been restricted to promoting one Republican contender over others, whereas the Democrats have been conspicuously absent: Liberal Mac against Boy Mitt

“McCain is not a conservative Republican no matter what his ads are saying. What is really funny is that he is being hurt by McCain/Feingold which is limiting this ability to raise money. That bill limits the amount Republicans can contribute to our candidates while doing nothing about Unions and other organizations like MoveOn.org supported by George Soros. Which ever Democrat gets the nomination, he or she will have lots more money spent on their campaign directly or indirectly. For better or worse in Presidential politics, who ever has the gold, wins. It really is that simple” reads a recent post by Joseph Morabito, former member of the CZ board of directors.

He then continues:

“So McCain in reaching across the aisle on campaign finance reform and many other issues has hurt the Republican Party. If he is the Republican candidate, he will lose not just because he will not have solid conservative support; but because he will be out spent two to one. The only chance he has it to make Romney the VP candidate in an attempt to unite the party. Since they hate each other, it seems unlikely; but I guess stranger things have happened. i.e. Kennedy/Johnson, Reagan/Bush, etc.

P.S. We will not vote for McCain under any circumstances which will be a vote for Hill and Bill in Nevada , a swing state that could go either way. McCain cannot win without Nevada, New Mexico, Florida, Ohio and Missouri . These are all swing states. There is a good chance he will not carry any of them”

While David Archibald, another former member of the CZ board of directors pitches in saying

I am not a fan of McCain's either and wish that there was a better alternative (if he in the nominee). However, there are two key roles that the next President will play in the next 4-8 years that should make you re-consider your intent to "sit on your hands" and not vote.

The first role is that of Commander in Chief. With troops in harms way it is scary think of what might happen and the long range damage that either Barrack or Hillary could do. Remember Carter??

The second role is that of nominating justices to the Supreme Court. I don't think that I need to elaborate on the negative long term impact that the wrong judges might have...

Therefore, since an ideal candidate is not going to be on the ballot in November then at least there might be one option that can at least minimize some of the inevitable damage that is to come.

As registered independents voters, we are not able to choose between the alleged Liberal Republican Senator MacCain nor alleged Governor Boy Mitt (As in Boy George’s Chameleon) Romney. However, As compared to Ann Coulther, I we are not going to take the position of anyone but MacCain, but to reign in activist judges. Clinton will not do it. Obama will not do it! The stakes could not be higher: The US is legally murdering more people in one year than US war casualties since Viet Nam.

Activist Judges need to be reigned in!

Activist judges need to be reigned in now!. These judges create new constitutional rights, amend existing ones, or create or amend existing legislation to fit their own notions of societal needs.

For example, when a court "finds" a "right of privacy" hidden in the "penumbras" and "emanations" of the Constitution, and later expands this "right of privacy" into the right to abortion; that's judicial activism.

Or when a court rules that the First Amendment ("Congress shall make no law ...") suddenly means that "the states shall make no law" and creates a new constitutional "wall of separation" between church and state;

Or when a court rules that "evolving constitutional standards" mandates a right to same-sex marriage, contravening 200 years of state law and centuries of tradition.

The Case Against Activist Judges

January 22 marked the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide. There has been little agreement on either side of the issue since then, until now: The number of abortions in the U.S. is continuing its downward trend.

The news is contained in a study from the Alan Guttmacher Institute, a reproductive health and rights think-tank that surveys every known abortion provider in the country every four or five years. This is the group's 14th survey.
Source: Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health 2008

According to the study last month, the abortion rate in 2005 was lower than the rate in 1975, two years after Roe v. Wade. The rate is calculated as the percentage of women of childbearing age having abortions..

The study also shows the number of abortion providers continues to decline and in some cases, there is a fairly direct link between the number of providers and the number of abortions.

Cathy Ruse, senior fellow for legal studies at the Family Research Council, praised the continuing decline in abortion rates, but she warned the public not to miss the bigger picture.

"We still have 1.2 million abortions in America every year, and that is a national tragedy," she said. "Our abortion rate is still higher than every other nation in the western world. We can do better than that."

Liberal Mac - according to former member of CZ board of directors Joseph Morabito

Hello All: John McCain has two timed the Republican Party for the last 27 years. Let me count the ways:

McCain/Kennedy that would have given amnesty to 12,000,000 illegal aliens.
McCain/Feingold that prevents Republicans from contributing to elect Republicans and limits free speech.
Voted two times against the Bush Tax Cuts.
Supports closing Guantanomo where the Terrorists are in jail.
Supports ending water boarding to get information from Terrorists.
Was involved in the Keating Savings and Loan Scandal which cost taxpayers over $400 Billion. Should have gone to jail for that one.
McCain/Liberman specific to global warming that will raise all energy cost in this country and cost jobs.
John McCain is not a conservative Republican. He will reach across the aisle all right with Democrats to raise taxes. He has never had a job outside government in his life. He is a kept man supported by his rich wife. McCain can’t deal with the economy since he has never worked in it. John McCain does not have the temperament to be President. He is arrogant and stubborn. McCain will get us into even more wars.

While Mitt Romney is not perfect by any means, he can beat Hill and Bill by first uniting the Republican Party. If McCain is the nominee, conservative Republicans will sit out this election and we will lose. McCain will tear the Republican Party apart which will take years to recover. Remember, Pete Wilson in California who destroyed the Republican Party here and it has never really recovered. A vote for McCain is a vote for Hill and Bill. I am voting for Mitt Romney as the only candidate who can beat Hill and Bill. JM

Boy Mitt (Chameleon) Romney

It is hard to argue against the Limbaugh/Hannity talking points.

It is also hard to argue against Romney’s Clintonian definition of “seeing while I was not there”, or even voting against life, before being for it.

It is hard to argue about refusing to be counted for political expediency

Or Guru Romney’s Yoga – that is, how many positions can one have on a single issue –refer to Exclusive Brody File Video: Huckabee on Romney: "How Many Different ...

"How Many Different Changes of Position Can One Have ... the first to admit that and when you add to that positions that he's held on ...

Or as Boy George might say – Chameleon Mitt -- Buzz
