C. Bustamante, Santa Ana City Councilman and former administration manager for Orange County Public Works arrested on multiple felony charges

Rancho Santa Margarita - Santa Ana City Councilman and former administration manager for Orange County Public Works Carlos Bustamante was arrested today by Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) Investigators on six felony counts of false imprisonment, three felony counts of assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense, one felony count each of stalking, attempted sexual battery by restraint, and grand theft by false pretense, and one misdemeanor count each of battery, assault, sexual battery, and attempted sexual battery with a sentencing enhancement allegation for committing the offenses as a result of sexual compulsion and for the purpose of sexual gratification. 



Bustamante was placed on paid administrative leave  September 16, 2011 following anonymous allegations of a sexual nature. Bustamante said at the time that the accusations were untrue, and he expected an investigation would prove him right.  At the time, Bustamante was also an executive manager with the Orange County's Public Works Department stating:  "I strongly deny the vicious and hurtful rumors surrounding my employment with the County of Orange. My family and I are confident that the investigation will disprove them and I am looking forward to returning to work."

The OCDA’s office has scheduled a media conference Tuesday July 3, 2012  to provide additional details
