San Juan Capistrano, CA- Summer Shakespeare brings you this timeless classic with an old west theme ... Capistrano Style. Held in the beautifully green Historic Town Center Park in the heart of San Juan Capistrano.   Blazing Saddles mixes with Shakespeare in AS YOU LIKE IT! This is how Mel Brooks might present the Bard!  As You Like It is considered one of the Bards worst and most brilliant pieces ever written.  It almost comes off as if Shakespeare was making a rebellious statement about his playwriting skills for his contemporary critics.

The Camino Real Playhouse is run by a non-profit organization's board - the Capistrano Center For The Performing Arts, dedicated to the future of live community theatre in South Orange County.  Tere are 4 Theatre Divisions that report to the board. One controls the daily workings of the Playhouse, one controls the future of the Capistrano Center for the Performing Arts as well as facilities management, one directs programs for young actors (managed by The Acting Academy For Kids) .one supports acting programs for adults (the Capistrano Acting Academy), and one controls the  annual Shakespeare Festival (CapoShakes).

Although it deals with some intriguing themes: artifice, homoeroticism, and exile…LIKE IT OR NOT the bard throws these situations in our faces to laugh, cry, reminisce, or scorn almost in a form of  melodrama.  So taking in all of these different points of view, as a director, Robb selected a western theme—for the historical aspects of the location-- and to utilize the “melodramatics” of the script.

The cast of AS YOU LIKE IT  includes:  Darrell Hill, Bren Johnson, Jonathan Barker, Sean Goodwin, Wylie Simpson, Tawnye Raughn and Tom Scott of San Juan Capistrano, Ruben Miranda, Kyle Kiyono, Emily Risbrough of Rancho Santa Margarita, Britt Gridley, Kerry Kazmierowicztrimm  of Dana Point, Jake LaRosa of Ladera Ranch, Elisabeth Farmer of Brea, LaDawna Williams,  Kevin Stanley of San Clemente  Directed by Robb Rigg of San Juan Capistrano
