The 2012 Vice-presidential debate Summary: Not The Grumpy Old Man Vs a Young Gun

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA –  Love him or hate him, Joe Biden's performance during the vice-presidential debate was one for the ages - weird.

What we thought was going to be a debate between a Grumpy Old Man Vs. a Young Gun, instead turned into mostly a Joker Soliloquy, with a wide range of statements ABC, CBS, NBC and UNIVISION might call gaffes, but because it was Joe Biden articulating them, they simply ignored it:    From the Know Nothing White House, as in the Benghazi security to misrepresenting the state of the economy to misrepresenting the position of the Catholic Church.

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace said that that he's never seen anyone be so disrespectful in a presidential or vice presidential debate and called Joe Biden’s demeanor unprecedented. "I don't believe I've ever seen a debate in which one participant was as openly disrespectful of the other as Biden was to Paul Ryan tonight… It was openly contemptuous and disrespectful." Wallace said.

Since we generally see the worlds as we are, not necessarily as it is, it is no surprise that a good number of people on the far left saw Joe Biden's performance as stellar, albeit delusional.  However, for this piece, we will leave the fact-checkers on both sides to the math.

However, it is worth noting that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops released a statement refuting Vice President Biden’s freedom of religion claims and  to combat the Catholic Gospel according to Joe Biden as expressed during the debate, the  CatholicVote.org Education Fund has created many videos explaining the Church's teachings on life, family and religious liberty.

The debate also  brought up  a discussion on the morality of budgets, how to reduce the national debt, and what role government plays in combating poverty.

Serious Catholics should discover what the Church has to say about these issues. After all, you cannot count on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, UNIVISION and the rest of the media to accurately describe the richness of Church teaching on these matters, as the CatholicVote.org might say.
