OCSD Seeks Help Identifying Yorba Linda's El Torito Grill Robbery Suspect





The suspect brandished a semi-automatic handgun in the commission of the robbery

Rancho Santa Margarita – On Sunday, May 31, 2015 an armed robbery occurred at the El Torito Grill restaurant located at 22699 Oakcrest Circle.  The suspect used a semi-automatic handgun and the loss was approximately $5,000.00 cash. 

According to OCSD spokesperson Lt. Jeff Hallock, at approximately 11:15 p.m., the suspect cut the lock to a rear access gate and entered the business through a rear employee entrance.  The suspect brandished a semi-automatic handgun and forced two employees to the manager’s office where he demanded cash from the safe.  The suspect exited through the rear entrance door and was last seen on foot.  No vehicle was seen leaving the area.

The suspect is described as a male, black, 5’9’’, 160-170 pounds, wearing a long-sleeve white and gray shirt, gray jeans and gloves.  He wore a white and black bandana covering his face and carried a black backpack.

The suspect is believed to be responsible for at least one other armed robbery in April 2015 at the Mimi’s CafĂ© in the city of Whittier.  The suspect description and method of operation are very similar.  Orange County Sheriff’s investigators are continuing to work with other law enforcement agencies to determine if the suspect is responsible for additional robberies in the area.
