Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – “According to a national survey conducted in March by Zogby Analytics for the Foundation for Community Association Research, Americans who live in homeowners associations and condominiums remain overwhelmingly satisfied with their communities, their homeowner leaders and professional managers.”  So states a press release titled National Survey Validates Community Association Success

We tried to reach the Community Association’s Institute’s Media person,  Frank Rathbun and Zogby Analytics to see if we could get additional information.  We should note that we had an almost immediate reply from Chad, at Zogby acknowledging our request. However, for now, all we have to go on is our own research conducted over a 15 year period and the CAI press release:

CAI Press Release: Associations, Board Members and Community Managers Earn High Ratings by "Buzz" Aguirre

The Real CID/HOA Players:  Goals are always diametrically opposed

HOA/CID actors always have diametrically opposed goals: Through willful ignorance, gross incompetence, cognitive dissonance or cognitive challenges, boards tend to side with the industry

The Emperor Has New Clothes:

Research indicates that when the psychological distance between the action and its consequences is great, such as the case of mortgage-backed securities, rationalization tends to increase.  The cited Zogby report is self-serving and largely questionable.  While we may be willing to concede that some service providers and some homeowners in some common interest development environments strive for a common goal, that might be the exception that proves the rule.

Florida HOA Survey
Cyber Citizens for Justice, Inc. [CCFJ] surveyed owners of residences in deed-restricted communities in Florida in August – October of 2012.  The survey elicited respondents’ views about ten [10] possible legislative reforms for Home Owners Associations.  450 usable responses were received and analyzed.  Responses which were anonymous or failed to provide an answer to any of the 10 key questions were rejected.  Duplicate responses also were rejected.  CCFJ’s secretary, Dr. David Goldenberg, entered the data into a standard database, then analyzed it and produced this report.

CAI ‘white paper’: CAI is the sole competent voice for HOA matters

by pvtgov
For those who took the time to read all four of these papers,[1] what should stand out is the absence of any discussion of HOAs as de facto private governments, as de facto political entities, or as quasi or mini governments both of which imply a political entity.  The reason why the authors of these […]

Subject: FYI: CAI as national private agency for HOAs

I added the following paragraph at the end of my CAI Manifesto commentary.
In May 2006 I wrote (see p. 20, Conclusions, in Nationwide Lobbyist for Principalities):
In short, CAI has been setting itself up as the national private authority, a sort ofBoard of National HOA Governors, on local community governance through the adoption of uniform planned community acts that perpetuate the current anti-American HOA governments. In effect, the super, privatized agency to replace the US Constitutional system of government.

Today’s blog examines Community Associations Institute’s (CAI) Panel Report on the Association Governance model, helping the reader to understand their political agenda. Part one will critique the Panel’s conclusions regarding relative size of associations and the composition of the boards.

In July and August, in conjunction with Association Evaluation, a group of housing advocates conducted a national online survey, to determine your level of concern about issues affecting Association-Governed Residential Communities (aka Homeowners Associations or HOAs). The response was amazing!

Battling the rampant corruption in the HOA/CID Industry

Ken thank you for sharing this information and understanding what is going on in the HOA criminality, HOA homeowner abuses, secretive and criminal legal and judicial abuses, fraudulent property thefts and more.  The most significant and troubling issue is you mention "competent lawyer" when you stated: "

What happens when homeowners try to navigate the quagmire of HOA home ownership without a competent lawyer

In 1961 there was a building called Imperial Towers here in Chicago.  The building was fantastic as it was a project that addressed not only a need, but did it expertly.   At the time I was employed with, associated with, and/or allied with a group of old timers in the real estate market who enjoyed not only 'our' success but that of everyone else.   My employer, Joseph Ronsley, was the ultimate spectator - he knew what he was looking at and most importantly he seemed to be novice to know everyone and everything.   Most importantly for me he was a wonderful teacher.  It is too bad that I was not as wonderful a student as I should have been.
