Posted By CotoBlogzz

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – The  City of Rancho Santa Margarita and Operation Help a Hero (OHH), a local Rancho Santa Margarita non-profit organization are teaming up to provide holiday cheer to over sixty families, including 10 from the City’s adopted Second Battalion, Fifth Marines (2/5) Division, through its Operation Christmas Spirit program.

OHH is an IRS approved 501 (c) (3) public charity dedicated to the well-being and care of our American military members. Its  programs support military units and families as they prepare for separation, while they endure the challenges of deployment, and as they transition back to the US. Our projects uplift our military heroes and send a clear message of support to their entire family. .

Operation Help A Hero connects communities with service members and provides real opportunities to make a difference in the lives of those who serve our country

According to its website, the OHH is   an all volunteer organization..  Every cent contributed to Operation Help A Hero is used to serve our military community, and every project is based on real need

The City adopted the Second Battalion, Fifth Marines (2/5) on January 10, 2007. The 2/5 is comprised of over 1,000 brave Marines and Sailors and recently returned home from a seven month deployment in Afghanistan.

There are many ways residents and businesses can help the effort, including:

  • Donate gift cards, allowing Marine families to purchase holiday gifts of their own choosing ($20-$25 suggested).
  • Contribute  talents as gifts for families such as photography, sewing, scrapbooking.
  • Craft homemade items for holiday baskets such as blankets, craft kits, ornaments, and so on.

Donations can be dropped off at the Bell Tower Regional Community Center through Sunday, December 16, 2012. Hours at the Community Center are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 9:00 pm; and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
