Mark Hibner, a LA County Sheriff's Deputy arraigned for repeatedly assaulting a woman

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA - Mark Hibner, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy was arraigned yesterday for repeatedly assaulting a woman with whom he had a relationship after she discovered on Christmas Day that he was involved with another woman.

Mark Eric Hibner, 44, Anaheim, is charged with three felony counts of domestic battery with corporal injury and two felony counts of criminal threats.

According to the Orange County District Attorney's (OCDA) office, at the time of the crimes, Hibner is accused of being a 22-year deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and being in a romantic relationship with Jane Doe #1 for several years.

On Dec. 25, 2012, Hibner is accused of getting into an argument with Jane Doe #1 after the victim discovered a  suggestive voicemail from another woman on the defendant's cell phone.

The following day, Dec. 26, 2012, Hibner is accused of continuing to argue with Jane Doe #1 over his relationship with the other woman. The defendant is accused of hitting Jane Doe #1, grabbing her hair, spitting and throwing a lit cigarette at her, and punching the victim in the chest.

On Dec. 29, 2012, Hibner is accused of grabbing Jane Doe #1 by the hair, pulling it side to side, and calling her derogatory names. Hibner is accused of pushing Jane Doe #1 on the bed, straddling her, pinning her down with his knees on her shoulders, and covering her mouth with his hand so hard that it left teeth marks on the inside of Jane Doe's mouth. He is accused of repeatedly swearing at the victim and threatening to kill her.

On Dec. 30, 2012, Hibner is accused of waking Jane Doe #1 and dragging her to the living room by her hair. The defendant is accused of throwing the victim on the floor, straddling her, and choking her with his forearm across her throat. Jane Doe #1 was crying, begging the defendant to stop, and banging her foot on the floor to wake the neighbors.  Hibner is accused of then covering the victim's mouth, pinching her nose, and threatening to make her pass out. The defendant is accused of getting off of Jane Doe #1, spitting on her, throwing a lit cigarette at her, and calling her derogatory names.

On Feb. 19, 2013, Hibner is accused of meeting with Jane Doe #2, with whom he formerly had a romantic relationship and minor children. The defendant is accused of meeting with the victim for a child custody exchange. During the meeting, Hibner is accused of threatening to kill Jane Doe #2 if she appeared in court at a hearing scheduled for two days later regarding a protective order for the crimes against Jane Doe #1.

The Anaheim Police Department Investigated this case. Deputy District Attorney Lori Smith of the Family Protection Unit is prosecuting this case.
