Saddleback College ’s International Guest Artist Series welcomes Laguna Ballet’s premiere of The Nutcracker on the McKinney Theatre stage, after 22 years in Laguna Beach , December 13-26.
Over 75 Orange County students come together each year, under the direction of Artistic Director Shery Gilbert, to present this full-length Nutcracker. The lead role of Clara will be played by Meghan McDonough and Sophia Romagnano. Guest artists are Miranda Weese, former New York City Ballet principal and current principal with Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Anton Pankevich of Pacific Northwest Ballet. Lauren Eggersten, Youth American Grand Prix Regional Semi Finalist, returns in her role as Sugar Plum Fairy along with all of the talented Laguna Ballet dancers.
Laguna Ballet is the non-profit junior ballet company of Laguna Dance Theatre, comprised of children ages 5-18, founded by Shery Gilbert. Laguna Ballet in conjunction with the school, Laguna Dance Theatre, provides an exceptional environment where each student receives the special care and attention needed to become a self confident dancer. A solid base in technique is provided to aspiring professional dancers, and to those who simply want the best dance experience, to raise their self-esteem, develop discipline and achieve grace. Tickets are $24 general, $22 students/seniors/Angels, and $20 children 12 & under and Saddleback College students with current ASG card. Dates are December 13, 14 & 15 at 7:00 p.m.; December 15 at 2:00 p.m. and December 16 at 1:00 & 6:00 p.m.
The International Guest Artist Series is made possible through the fundraising efforts of the Angels for the Arts, a support organization for the performing arts.
Saddleback College is located at 28000 Marguerite Pkwy in Mission Viejo , just east of Interstate 5 at the Avery Parkway exit. Parking is available in Lot 12. Take Avery Parkway to Marguerite Parkway turn left to the third traffic light, which is Saddleback’s Marguerite entrance. Turn right into the campus and take the second left to “ Theatre Circle ,” turning right into Lot 12.
