Rosary In a Year Complete: Welcome 2026

We are now ready to welcome the new year, after having completed the last episode of the Rosary In a Year.

The Holy Rosary is prayed as a meditative exercise to grow closer to Jesus Christ through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is often described by saints as a weapon for spiritual battle and a tool for inner transformation.

By meditating on the 20 Mysteries (key life events of Jesus), you "learn Christ" through the eyes of His mother. The rhythmic, repetitive nature of the prayers calms the mind, eases anxiety, and fosters a sense of stillness.

Tradition and various popes emphasize it as a "powerful armor against hell," helping to destroy vice and resist temptation.

It serves as a vehicle to present intentions for family, friends, or global needs (like peace) to God through Mary.

According to Catholic tradition, the Blessed Virgin Mary revealed 15 specific promises to St. Dominic and Blessed Alan de la Roche for those who faithfully pray the Rosary. These promises are considered private revelation, meaning Catholics may choose to believe them but are not required to do so, these include:
Special protection and the greatest graces. Signal graces (subtle hints of guidance). The flourish of virtue and good works. Relief from Purgatory for those devoted to it.Obtaining whatever is asked through the Rosary (if in accordance with God's will).

Practical Reasons for Modern Life: Accessibility. It can be prayed anywhere—while commuting, exercising, or doing chores—and does not requires one sitting. Bible Synthesis: The Rosary is often called a "compendium of the Gospel" because most of its prayers and all of its mysteries are rooted in Scripture.
Family Unity: Known by the slogan "The family that prays together stays together," it is used to foster solidarity and peace within the home

The Rosary in a Year is a comprehensive 365-day spiritual program and podcast hosted by Fr. Mark-Mary Ames, CFR, and produced by Ascension. Launched on January 1, 2025, the program is designed to help participants build a lasting habit of daily prayer and develop a deeper relationship with Jesus and Mary.

We are thankful to Fr. Mark-Mary Ames and Ascension.  RIY was informative, edifying, palatable and spiritually fulfilling.

History of the Holy Rosary

The feast of the Most Holy Rosary was introduced by Pope St. Pius V (1504-1572) in the year 1571 to commemorate the miraculous victory of the Christian forces in the Battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571. The pope attributed more to the "arms" of the Rosary than the power of cannons and the valor of the soldiers who fought there. In 1571 when the Catholic League entered into battle against the Ottoman Empire to protect Italy from invasion. The Turks were on a warpath to overthrow all of Europe, killing millions of people and forcing Islamic conversion on survivors. They had conquered the Middle East and Mediterranean islands of Cyrus and Crete; Italy was next.
