Dante's Inferno is the first part of Dante Alighieri's 14th-century epic poem, The Divine Comedy. Circle 5 (Wrath and Sullenness): The actively wrathful fight viciously on the surface of the river Styx, while the passively wrathful lie gurgling beneath the black, stinking water.
Circle 6 (Heresy): Heretics, who denied the soul's immortality, are trapped in flaming tombs within the walls of the city of Dis.
