Mission
Viejo, CA – The
Department of Theatre Arts at Saddleback College is schedule to present Oscar
Wilde’sThe
Importance of Being Earnest in
the McKinney Theatre on November 4-13.
In an effort to forego social obligations, two friends
unwittingly take on the same alias. With two Earnests causing problems, this
social comedy by Oscar Wilde hilariously uses farce to satirize the shallowness
of society. Referred to by Wilde as, “a trivial comedy for serious people,” The Importance of Being Earnest will leave you laughing at the comedy
of mistaken identities and the unexpected turn of events.

Since people dressed up to attend theatre in the
1890s, Saddleback is bringing glamour back by holding a special opportunity
drawing at each performance for those who wear evening attire either in
Victorian style or contemporary. Also during this era men wore green
carnations in honor of Oscar Wilde. Green carnations will be sold in the
lobby before each performance.
