Mission Viejo, CA – The Saddleback College Music Department is
presenting a Beethoven Celebration performed by the Saddleback
College Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Branden Muresan, on
Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 8:00 pm in the McKinney Theatre.
Works to be performed include Overture to Egmont, A Choral
Fantasy and Symphony No. 5. Featured
in this concert celebrating the great composer is new faculty member Kirill
Gliadkovsky on piano and the Saddleback College choirs, conducted by Dr. Scott
Farthing. There will also be a pre-concert interactive lecture at 7:15 pm
presented by Roger Hickman, who teaches musicology and undergraduate music
history at Cal State Long Beach.
Tickets are $10 general admission; $7 students/seniors and
children 12 and free for children 12 and under. Order tickets by calling

The Music Department has established a comprehensive program
which is considered to be one of the finest in California: a complete
lower-division curriculum for transferring music majors, numerous performance
groups, private and group lessons, a full concert series with faculty and guest
artists, and general music courses. The nationally recognized faculty is
dedicated to performance and to teaching in all areas such as vocal,
instrumental, jazz, guitar and piano. Other music classes include
harmony, musicianship, composition, history and appreciation of western art
music, rock, jazz and world.
Saddleback College is located at 28000 Marguerite Pkwy in
Mission Viejo, just east of Interstate 5 at the Avery Parkway exit.
Parking is available in Lot 12. Take Avery Parkway to Marguerite Parkway
turn left to the third traffic light, which is Saddleback’s Marguerite
entrance. Turn right into the campus and take the second left to “Theatre
Circle,” turning right into Lot 12.
