A caregiver in Laguna Woods Village is in custody on suspicion of sexual elder abuse.

LAGUNA WOODS, California – On Monday, June 17 at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Detail arrested Robert Ligayo, 62, of Aliso Viejo for elder abuse and sexual battery. He is currently in custody at the Orange County Jail with bail set at $100,000. Ligayo has no other criminal history.

A 66 year old female victim reported that her in-home caregiver, Ligayo, had been sexually abusing her for the past six months.  During the investigation, Ligayo admitted to sexually assaulting the victim. Ligayo has been a licensed elderly caregiver since 2001 and has worked for several caregiver companies in Orange County.  Investigators feel there may be additional victims and are asking for the public’s help.
