Free Rock Opera Apt for the Entire Family

Mission Viejo, CA – The Department of Theatre Arts at Saddleback, in conjunction with the City of Mission Viejo, will present Children of Eden, music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by John Caird, at The Kershaw Garden on August 10th and 11th at 7:30 pm.  Directed by Jonelle Allen and musically directed by David Anthony, this rock opera, performed by students in the Saddleback College Summer Conservatory program, is freely based on the story of Genesis and is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. 

This fun musical for the entire family is free with lawn seating only so a blanket and beach chairs are recommended.  The Kershaw Garden is located between the Mission Viejo Library and City Hall at 100 Civic Center in Mission Viejo.

The Department of Theatre Arts program at Saddleback College produces several fully-staged shows in which students are encouraged to participate.  Theatre Arts students are given the opportunity to audition for every production and Theatre Arts students are given priority in the casting process.  In addition there are numerous opportunities for students to contribute in backstage activities of all college productions.

The Jungle is Jigglin’ with the Jungle Book Kids at Saddleback

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – The Saddleback College Community Education and Performing Arts have come together again this summer to present MainStage Kids’ production of Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids on August 3-5 in the McKinney Theatre. 






Directed by Katie Rubin, with choreography by Janette Bent and Musically directed by Lex Leigh, this classic family musical will delight audiences of all ages.  The jungle is jumpin’ with jazz in this exciting Disney classic!  Join Mowgli, Baloo, King Louie and the gang as they swing their way through madcap adventures and thwart the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan.  Specially adapted from the beloved film, this musical includes all your favorite Disney tunes like The Bare Necessities and I Wan’na be Like You.

MainStage Kids is a Children's Theatre company working in connection with Performing Arts and Community Education at Saddleback College to bring professional level Children's Theatre to Orange County.  The company features young actors ages 8-18.  Their first production of Seussical Jr. the Musical was held last summer to sold-out houses.
