The Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats at Saddleback College

Rancho Santa Margarita,  CA – The  Performing Arts at Saddleback College announced the presentation of  The Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats on Sunday, November 18th at 2 p.m. in the McKinney Theatre. 

Direct from the People’s Republic of China, this high-energy attraction will transport audiences back to a mystical land of “Shangri-La” where anything is possible and illusion becomes reality.  Under the direction of acrobatic legends, the Hai Family, the company flawlessly interprets the precision and grace of an art form honed by years of training and discipline. This multi-faceted and multi-cultural production features dazzling acrobatic displays, formidable feats of daring and balance, explosive Kung Fu, brilliant costumes and even a touch of Chinese comedy.  Along with several television appearances, the troupe was awarded the Performing Arts Award by the National Association for Campus Activities Today and the Reader’s Choice Award for Best Live Novelty Act.  High-wire feats and show-stopping ground acts will have audiences clamoring for more!

Turn right into the campus and take the third left to “Theatre Circle,” turning right into Lot 12.

Free Rock Opera Apt for the Entire Family

Mission Viejo, CA – The Department of Theatre Arts at Saddleback, in conjunction with the City of Mission Viejo, will present Children of Eden, music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by John Caird, at The Kershaw Garden on August 10^th and 11^{th at 7:30 pm.}  Directed by Jonelle Allen and musically directed by David Anthony, this rock opera, performed by students in the Saddleback College Summer Conservatory program, is freely based on the story of Genesis and is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. 

This fun musical for the entire family is free with lawn seating only so a blanket and beach chairs are recommended.  The Kershaw Garden is located between the Mission Viejo Library and City Hall at 100 Civic Center in Mission Viejo.

The Department of Theatre Arts program at Saddleback College produces several fully-staged shows in which students are encouraged to participate.  Theatre Arts students are given the opportunity to audition for every production and Theatre Arts students are given priority in the casting process.  In addition there are numerous opportunities for students to contribute in backstage activities of all college productions.

Leavenworth, WA -  Icicle Creek's crown jewels  - the International Chamber Music Festival will kick off on July 8th with an "Opening Night Gala" at 8pm featuring complimentary appetizers, wine and lots of one-on-one time with the artists themselves.

 Dedicated to celebrating excellence in the lively arts and inspiring generations of students, artists and audiences through exceptional educational experiences, live performances, and special events - all in the breathtaking, natural setting of the mountain meadows.

Chamber music is written for a small group of instruments and includes any art music that is performed by a small number of performers with one performer to a part. The word chamber implies that the music can be performed in a small room, often in a private salon with an intimate atmosphere.

Chamber music  or “the music of friends” is composed for a small group of instruments, one player to a part, and is traditionally performed in an intimate setting such as a chamber or private salon. The magic of this intimacy awaits you in the gorgeous and acoustically perfect Canyon Wren Hall, nestled in a field of wild flowers.

Imagine a conversation with pianist Christina Dahl, Winner of USIA Cultural Ambassador's Competition both as a recitalist and a collaborative pianist, having appeared at Carnegie Hall and the National Gallery in Washington DC and on the faculty at SUNY, Stony Brook.

Or perhaps a chat with Professor Anthony Elliott, University of Michigan; Conductor, Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra; winner, Emanuel Feuermann International Cello Competition and top-ranked American cellist in Concours Cassado, Italy; soloist with New York Philharmonic, Detroit Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra and others.

The Icicle Creek Chamber Music Festival will also feature internationally acclaimed artists: Richard Wolfe, Jennifer Caine, the Avalon String Quartet, Laurie DeLuca, and Oksana Ezhokina - also the festival's Artistic Director.

This year's festival, the 19th annual of the series, promises to deliver an intimate experience as concerts will continue to take place in the acoustically perfect setting of Canyon Wren Recital Hall - accommodating no more than 120 attendees to create a warm, magical experience. 

Enhancing the intimacy are the post-concert receptions, masterclasses and free young artist concerts performing Brahms, Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert, all open to the public.
