Rancho Santa Margarita, California. The Department of Music at Saddleback College will present the Wind Ensemble’s Spring Celebration under the baton of faculty member Maestro Yorgos Kouritas Friday, May 10th at 8 pm in the McKinney Theatre.

The evening performance will feature a wide selection of dances, marches and other well-known pieces such as: Ticheli’s Shenandoah, Smetana’s Three Revolutionary Marches, Mozart’s Impresario Overture, Khachaturian’s Armenian Folk Song and Dance, Creston’s Celebration Overture and Nelson’s Courtly Airs and Dances.
Mr. Kouritas has an extensive background in conducting which includes being the Assistant Conductor of the Boise Philharmonic and Director of the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. On February 8th he conducted the Boise Philharmonic, featuring the music of the leading American composer Ben Model, accompanying silent movies. The orchestra played live during the films with the guidance of Mr. Kouritas as conductor. In December, he was chosen among 70 applicants for a prestigious conducting workshop with the Virginia Symphony that was taught by internationally-known conductors JoAnn Falletta and Jorge Mester.

The Music Department has established a comprehensive program
which is considered to be one of the finest in California. Within the
Department there exists a variety of specialized areas which permit students to
explore and develop individual skills under the guidance of highly qualified
music practitioners. The faculty's academic achievements are combined with vast

individual with a more general interest. Student musicians are given the
opportunity to perform in concerts, recitals and other performance situations
both on and off campus. Music facilities include an electronic piano lab, Pro
Tools HD recording studio, choral and instrumental rehearsal and recital halls,
and soundproof practice rooms.

Mission Viejo, just east of Interstate 5 at the Avery Parkway exit.
Parking is available in Lot 12. Take Avery Parkway to Marguerite Parkway
turn left to the third traffic light, which is Saddleback’s Marguerite
entrance. Turn right into the campus and take the second left to “Theatre
Circle,” turning right into Lot 12.
