Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – With numerous complaints about lack of after-school
activities, the Orange County Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor Association (OCLEEAA)
is hosting a Explorer Summer Academy August 1-5, 2010 at the BSA Irvine Ranch
Outdoor Education Center in Orange
The Explorer Scouts are committed
to law enforcement, the Explorer Academy is an abbreviated version of a regular
Law Enforcement Academy and the Explorers are housed and fed in dorms at the
Outdoor Education Center
According do the Orange County Sheriff’s
Department, nearly 200 Explorer Scouts from Orange and Los Angeles Counties
will be getting a taste of police work this week, with demonstrations by SWAT,
a K-9 unit and a Helicopter Unit. The
Explorers will learn to handle situations under stressful conditions. They are also challenged physically with
running, push-ups and other activities.
The Explorers will also attend
classes, including Driving Under the Influence, Traffic Accident
Investigations, Gang Investigations, Criminal Law, Ethics and other Law
Enforcement classes.
The program is sponsored by the
Orange County Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor Association (OCLEEAA).
The Tactical Officers for the
Academy are Explorer Advisors (Officers and Deputies) from agencies belonging
to OCLEEAA.
Explorers who successfully
complete the Academy will graduate on Thursday August 5, 2010, 6:00 PM at the
Sheriff’s Regional Academy in Tustin, at which time numerous awards will be
presented.
