Sean Penn’s Tunnel Vision Yields This Type of Government
Welcome to the ridiculous world of Penn, Belafonte, Glover and the rest of the Hollywood Continental Breakfast: flakes, fruits and nuts.
August 15, 2007
Film actor and director Sean Penn published a full-page statement in the May 30 New York Times opposing Bush administration policy and calling for a revival of democracy in America. One of the central issues Penn touches on is American patriotism. He returns to this theme several times, musing that the US flag reflects “sacrifice and heroism” and adding, “I am an American and I fear that I, and our people are on the verge of losing our flag.” He writes: “Yet, now here we are, just those five short years have passed, and that same flag that took me so long to love, respect, and protect, threatens to become a haunting banner of murder, greed, and treason against our principles, honored history, Constitution, and our own mothers and fathers. To become a vulgar billboard, advertising our disloyalty to ourselves and our allies.”
According to an August 3, 2007 Associated Press: report “Sean Penn applauded President Hugo Chavez as the Venezuelan leader lambasted the Bush administration and demanded an end to war in Iraq…..Penn sat near the front, at times applauding and nodding in agreement. He is the latest in a series of celebrities who have visited Caracas, including Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte. “If the people of the United States, those millions and millions of poor people … if that nation realizes what is truly happening here, there would be a revolution in the United States,” Chavez said, eliciting applause from Penn”. Today, a different Associated Press articled by Chritopher toothaker, titled Chavez to propose constitutional reforms reads “President Hugo Chavez was presenting his blueprint Wednesday for sweeping constitutional changes expected to allow him to be re-elected indefinitely, a move his critics call a threat to democracy.” Welcome to the ridiculous world of Penn, Belafonte, Glover and the rest of the Hollywood Continental Breakfast: flakes, fruits and nuts.
Welcome to the new order according to Ahmadinejad and Chavez.
