Sustainable Customer Relationships in US Legal System Paradox

Sustainable Customer Relationship in US Legal System Paradox
The California Bar rather than decipher the writing on the wall is sticking its head in the sand!

The July 31, 2007 issue of the Scotsman reports that a “radical overhaul of Scotland's legal system to give consumers greater choice and a cheaper service will be recommended today by the UK's competition watchdog” and that “the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) wants to lift restrictions on the way lawyers operate in Scotland, opening up the profession to competition for the first time”. The report written by Hamish MacDonell and John Roberton conclude that “if that happens, it will revolutionise the way law services are provided and dismantle the closed arrangements between solicitors and advocates that have existed for centuries”
Meanwhile in the United States career specialist Vault, released its 2008 edition of the Vault Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms with Wachtell, Lipton Rosen & Katz commanding the to spot. The top 10 law firms according to Vault are listed below

On the other hand, the July 31,2007 issue of the Wall Street Journal, Health Section, reports that “websites that publish hospital and physician reviews by patients are exposing doctors to criticism they never experienced when their reputation rested mostly on physicial referrals and word of mouth among friends”. In a article published July 22, 2007 by the CotoBuzz Journal titled Pssst, Can I Interest You In a Lawyer?, the Journal reports that “Just last month Avvo launched a service ranking thousands of lawyers, and faster than a tax-and-spend liberal, the site was sued in federal court in Seattle by a lawyer who claims the information is inaccurate and misleading”. Apparently online reviews of the legal profession are open season for ultra-sensitve attorneys, whereas us secondary data is perfectly fine, since consumer need to pay close to $1.000.00 per copy, as is the case with the Vault report.
No question the writing is on the wall and the California Bar rather than trying to decipher the writing is sticking its head in the sand!
Shortly, the legal profession, just like any other, will have to be held accountable to the consumer!
