Tribes Offer Membership to Immigrants, Enclave Nation May Follow Suit

Tribes Offer Membership to Immigrants, Enclave Nation May Follow Suit

August 20, 2007

In an article by Oskar Garica titled Tribes Offer Membership to Immigrants, published August 17, 2007 by MyWay News, Garcia reports from Nebraska that “For prices starting at $50, two nonfederally recognized Indian tribes are offering membership to thousands of illegal immigrants, claiming they can achieve legal status by joining the groups”.

So, with the stroke of a $50.00 check, immigrants can become a member of a tribe, and be legalized. Too good to be true? Not so fast there Joe! Garcia writes that “Manuel Urbina, the tribe's high chief, acknowledged his group has sold at least 10,000 tribal memberships to illegal immigrants for about $50 each” and he adds, “"We are not going against the law, we're with the law," he said, claiming membership papers can help illegal immigrants avoid being detained by authorities if they are asked for documents” – echoing sentiments heard around Coto de Caza whenever questionable business decisions are brought up: “tell me where in the CC&Rs it says we cannot do this”? or "Heck, we do not even have CC&Rs"!, for example

Seems like another good idea for independent enclave-nations to sell membership to illegal immigrants – after all, one needs to pay for the CotoLifeStyle® for those who wish to experience it, for free – no?
