Breaking News: OCR Coverage of CZ Elections is Factual - Well...
June 1, 2007
Just like we were pleasantly surprised to find a Breadth of Fresh Air and a Voice of Reason during our coverage of the CZ Candidate’s Night, we were surprised to read today’s OCR’s coverage of the CZ Master Association board of directors election results: Something we had not seen since Mathew Green left the OCR. Consider that newcomer reporter Eugene Fields’ introductory paragraph concludes that CZ delegates “have voted for a change in Leadership”, and that long-held Varo/Mezger positions regarding the CHP and video-taping of meetings is publicly challenged!
This type of reporting is more surprising given that just during the Candidate’s Night, Fields had reported that “candidates agreed on most of the topics, except the possibility of the board meetings being videotaped”
Might this mean that with the departure of OCR City Editor Melissa Jones and community reporter Mark Eades, the reporting will now be factual based and balanced? – OK, perhaps this is too much to ask.
Consider the following description of Schlieder’s reaction after the CZ election results were announced: Schlieder “…was visibly stunned and said he was surprised that he had not been successful in his election bid”. We were there, we know stunning, we saw Lyle, he did not look stunning or stunned to us. We had predicted, however, that Schlieder would be a Varo/Mezger sacrificial lamb!
