A Fork in the Orange County Register's Road

A Fork in the Orange County Register's Road

June 8, 2007

For years the Varo/Mezger-friendly, Melissa Jones-led OCR, covered the CZ Master Association better than any self-funded propaganda machine. Such coverage aided and abetted the barrage of lawyer-letters aimed at suppressing free speech.

Today’s article titled CZ Master gets new board officers echoes the Coto Discussion Forum much discussed conclusion, and something we are sure we would not have seen, if the Jones/Eades duo was still in place: A large majority of CZ district delegates want a change in direction.

Since Ms. Cisneros replaced Ms Jones as City editor, and Eugene Fields replaced Mark Eades as staff writer, we have seen a different type of reporting. We applaud the apparent new direction the OCR has taken.

Now if the CZ board takes a similar approach with the CotoVoice and abolishes the CZ Propaganda Corner, designed to promote the current corrupt district delegate system, and replaces it with the Morabito-proposed We the People Corner, we will know the board has the mandate and the will to change!

A “We the People Corner” in CotoVoice open to any Member would be terrific particularly if and when CZ starts generating ad revenues from a monthly issue of CotoVoice to help bring down our dues. That is a great idea. Clearly, if a Delegate gets to editorialize, why not a CZ Member? Again, we don’t need any one speaking or in this case writing for us. Heck, years ago when I was President of our HOA in Agoura, I had a weekly column for five long years in the local throw away and that was before computers. I had to meet my Sunday deadline turning in my typewritten article every week. Now, I along with others could simply submit by e-mail from anywhere in the world. Life is really beautiful, isn’t it? Joe Morabito

The CZ Propaganda Corner is simply a ruse with the sole objective of perpetuating the status quo – contrary to the message sent by the 2007 CZ election results.

The only legal function left for the 2007-2008 delegates is to vote on a recall initiative, if one was to happen. So in essence, the CZ Propaganda Corner is trying to pre-empt a recall.

On the other hand, a We The People Corner is not only consistent with the 2007 CZ election results, it promotes open public discourse on the important issues of the community, it helps bridge the schism, but most importantly, it is the right thing to do.
