Why “Analysis” is worse than neutral news
Analysis is not a hall pass. In WWS terms, genre is a constraint. It is not permission to put the argument in the only sentence most people will read.

Why the label makes the card worse, not better:
Most encounters stop at the card. If 80–90% never open the piece, “analysts” are researchers for a verdict that travels without their footnotes, their dissenters, or their uncertainty. The analysis does not follow the object.
The legal tell. “News Analysis” on a news-shaped accusation is the counsel move. It does two jobs at once:
Softens a corrections demand — we didn’t say the kingdom is in shock as fact; analysts say.
Keeps news syntax — subject + is in a state of + after failing. People do not read genre labels. They read shock, emboldened, failed, worst-case.
Good-faith analysis would have had to carry both grounds in the same breath. Example that would still be a frame, but would not fail the adverse-ground gate: Saudis want more U.S. action against the Houthis; the White House says X. This card chose which sentence is allowed to travel. That is not a reporter running out of inches.
It launders editorializing through news furniture. The kicker claims permission to interpret. The syntax still reads like a completed national fact. That is exactly R6: the card is the product. The label is the alibi for the product.
It hides the test the genre owes the reader. Analysis is allowed to argue. It is not allowed to sell the argument as the record, park the other side behind a paywall, and keep the Times bug and “1d · globe” chrome so the wrap still looks like a wire.
So the comparison is not “analysis vs. lying.” It is analysis-as-wrap vs. news-as-checkable sentence. Neutral news that names the pipeline notice and the non-comment can be routed as a first look. This object asks you to archive a mood. WWS does not file moods.
