Oscar Perez, Lake Forest Pastor Gets Life for Sexual Assault on Young Parishioners

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA  - Oscar Perez, a Lake Forest pastor was sentenced today to 330 years to life and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration for sexually assaulting five young parishioner boys in his Lake Forest apartment.

Oscar D. Perez Perez, 69, Lake Forest, was found guilty by a jury July 11, 2012, of 22 felony counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14, four felony counts of lewd acts on a child, and sentencing enhancement allegations for lewd acts against multiple victims. 

Perez represented himself as an Apostolic pastor and bishop at Iglesia Antigua, a church that rented space at St. George's Episcopalian Church in Laguna Hills. Perez met his five victims through the church and gained their trust by befriending their families and having the boys assist with church services. 

According to the Orange County District Attorney’s (OCDA) office, between 2007 and 2011, Perez sexually assaulted the five victims between the ages of 9 and 15 years old on one or more occasions while they were visiting or sleeping over at the defendant's apartment. 


Sometime after the sexual assault of John Doe #1 in 2011, the victim told his mother about the abuse and she reported it to the Orange County Sheriff's Department (OCSD), who investigated this case. The subsequent investigation led to the discovery of John Doe #2.

The defendant was arrested and charged for the first two victims in September 2011. Based on continued investigation and media coverage, OCSD discovered John Does #3, #4, and #5, and Perez was charged by the Orange County District Attorney's Office for the additional sex crimes in January 2012.

Mission Viejo’s Edward Justin LaPorte sentenced for impersonating a police officer and demanding a massage

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA  - Edward Justin LaPorte was convicted and sentenced today for impersonating a police officer and demanding a massage and $200 while pretending to perform a business inspection of a massage parlor.

in LaPorte, 48, Mission Viejo, pleaded guilty to one felony count of second degree commercial burglary, two misdemeanor counts of misrepresenting oneself as a peace officer, and one felony count each of having a concealed firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm in public. LaPorte was sentenced to six months in jail and three years formal probation over the objection of the Orange County District Attorney’s (OCDA) office, which advocated a one year in jail.

According to the OCDA’s office, LaPorte was a police officer with the Arlington Heights Police Department in Illinois from 1997 to 2001 and had worked as an officer with the North Chicago Police Department for several years prior to that time. LaPorte moved to California after leaving the police force. 

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2011, LaPorte entered Golden Spa massage parlor in Lake Forest wearing a silver police badge on his belt and carrying a firearm in a shoulder holster. He told the manager that he was investigating the parlor due to a recent complaint.

LaPorte walked around the massage parlor carrying and writing notes on a clipboard before demanding a massage because his firearm holster was hurting his back. While the manager was sending a masseuse into a room to give LaPorte a massage, he undressed and laid naked on the massage table. LaPorte received a 30-minute back massage and told the masseuse that he was a police officer inspecting the business.

During the massage, the Golden Spa manager called the City of Lake Forest business licensing department to describe the situation. After the back massage, the masseuse left the room and LaPorte asked the manager to send her back in to massage his front, but the manager refused. LaPorte got dressed, failed to pay for his massage, and demanded that the manager pay him $200 for the inspection. The manager again refused. 

A legitimate business licensing inspector from the City of Lake Forest responding to the manager's phone call arrived and identified himself to the defendant as LaPorte was leaving Golden Spa. LaPorte became belligerent and yelled that he didn't have to answer to the inspector when asked about LaPorte's inspection. LaPorte then left the massage parlor.  The licensing inspector and manager wrote down LaPorte's license plate number and contacted the police. 

The Orange County Sheriff's Department investigated this case. 

Lake Forest Serial Rapist Sekayi Rudo White Gets Life Sentence

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA  - Sekayi Rudo White was sentenced today to 112 years to life in state prison for raping five women and sexually assaulting a sixth.  According to the Orange County District Attorney’s (OCDA) office, White, 34, was found guilty by a jury Feb. 2, 2011, of 14 felony counts including attempted rape and forcible rape for Jane Doe #1, assault with the intent to commit rape, sexual battery by restraint, and criminal threats for Jane Doe #2, forcible rape and dissuading a witness by force for Jane Doe #3, first degree residential burglary of an inhabited dwelling and two counts of forcible rape for Jane Doe #4, forcible rape, criminal threats, and first degree residential burglary of an inhabited dwelling for Jane Doe #5, and forcible rape for Jane Doe #6. 

On Aug. 13, 2006, White met 22-year-old Jane Doe #1 at a bar in Huntington Beach. He drove Jane Doe #1 to his home in Lake Forest and took her inside. White forcibly raped Jane Doe #1. He then dropped her off at a convenience store, where her friend picked her up. 

On Dec. 23, 2005, White met 44-year-old Jane Doe #2 at a bar at the Irvine Spectrum. The defendant offered the victim a ride home. He drove Jane Doe #2 to her Newport Beach apartment and asked to go inside to use the restroom. When White attempted an attack, Jane Doe #2 screamed and  he fled the scene. 
 
White was arrested and charged in October 2006 for the crimes against Jane Doe #1 and Jane Doe #2. He posted $250,000 bail and raped Jane Doe #3 while out of custody. 

On March 31, 2007, White went to a bar in Lake Forest, where 28-year-old Jane Doe #3 was celebrating her birthday. The victim had met the defendant a few months prior. At approximately 2:30 a.m. on April 1, 2007, Jane Doe #3 was dropped off at home by a friend. White showed up at the victim's home and knocked on her door. The victim, who was intoxicated due to alcohol consumption, opened the door and White entered. Jane Doe #3 passed out in her bed. When the victim woke up, White forcibly raped her as she struggled and told him to stop. The victim punched White in the face and was able to get up and attempted to call 911. White followed Jane Doe #3 and stopped her from calling the police. The victim ran outside and called 911 from a neighbor's home. 

The defendant was re-arrested and charged April 4, 2007, with the rape of Jane Doe #3. As a result of the media coverage, three additional victims who had previously been frightened to report the crimes against them came forward to police. 

Jane Doe #4 met and began dating White in 2006 when she was 32 years old. In February 2007, White began sending threatening messages to the victim and spying on her by peering through the blinds into her home. On Feb. 21, 2007, White broke into Jane Doe #4's home when she was alone, pushed the victim to the ground.  He forcibly raped the victim as he held a large hunting knife to her neck. 

Jane Doe #5 was renting a room from Jane Doe #4. The victim frequently locked her bedroom door using an eye-hook because she had seen White in the apartment before and was alarmed by his aggressive behavior toward her roommate. One night in January 2007, Jane Doe #5 locked her bedroom door and went to sleep. White broke the lock off the door, entered the bedroom, and forcibly raped Jane Doe #5. He threatened to kill her if she reported the rape. 

White met 22-year-old Jane Doe #6 in driving school in 2002. Sometime between August and September 2002, White picked the victim up for a date. White took Jane Doe #6 to a hotel in Santa Ana and forcibly raped her. The victim does not recall drinking alcohol or entering the hotel, and was temporarily unconscious when she awoke to being raped. After the rape, the defendant harassed Jane Doe #6 by showing up at her work and home.
